what i read in january
Anna Karenina - Still plugging away. Anna is a hot mess but it’s a page turner.
One Day… - I have been wanting to read this and someone got it for my Nap Fam Secret Santa. It was just OK. It’s probably more earth shattering for someone who isn’t familiar with Palestine.
Something Wicked This Way Comes - I came across this during one of my internet travels. There was only one copy which seems wild to me. It was good; definitely would’ve been been more impressive if I had read it when it came out, not now since there’ve been so many imitations of the theme.
The Salt Eaters - Whew chile. I appreciate the artistry but this was the long way to black-women-bear-too-much-but-are-also-magical when I just wanted to know what really happened. This was a library read; I don’t think I’ll be reading any more by her.
One Hundred Years of Solitude - Easily in my top 5 of all time, chosen for NapFam book club. I don’t remember the plot - just that I loved the writing - so it’ll be fun to read it again.
