what i read in april

Plato - The pedophilia charges are just a ruse. I think they killed Socrates because he was an incredible pain in the ass. I did like this little trip into philosophy but definitely need a discussion group to get the full benefit.

The Autograph Man - I reeeeeeallly didn’t like the main character by the end but like I said last month, Zadie Smith’s writing is so witty and good. I’m glad I read it. Good follow up to the impossible-to-follow-up White Teeth.

The Conjure Woman and Other Conjure Tales - Somebody in the book club found a recording of readings which was VERY helpful. Loved the stories; some were LOL funny.

The Lumumba Plot: The Secret History of the CIA and a Cold War Assasination - I’m realizing that I really appreciate books written by journalists. The writing is crisp and descriptive and based in fact, and the investigative nature is really engaging. Still, this is going to take me a minute to get through.
