what i read in march
The Family Chao - It was OK. Not at all the “hilarious” read the People magazine blurb on the cover promised. It totally went over my head that this was supposed to be a reimagination of The Brothers Karamazov. I’m glad I didn’t know because I would’ve been looking for parallels throughout instead of paying attention to THIS story.
The Visit - I blazed through this in one day, not just because it was only 115 pages but because it was a library book beaten up to hell and marked up inside in pencil and pen (so disrespectful). I sanitized it but it still felt gross so I burned through it as quickly as I could. The story was just meh, trying too hard with the hyperbole but I thought the stage directions were very clever.
Midnight Timetable - I really enjoyed this; it reminded me of Murakami. I’d like to read more by this author.
Moon Witch, Spider King - Pretty much on par with the first book; neither stands head and shoulders above the other. He’s still fixated on violent sex which I do not enjoy reading. Not at all.
Catch 22 - Reading this with the work book club. I’m glad I’ll have some incentive to finish it this time. So many names though…
